Torrefazione Italia Cafe and Le Ceramiche Ceramics
Complete remodel of adjoining spaces and branding consultation for the oldest Seattle Italian cafe & Deruta ceramics store on Occidental Mall in historic Pioneer Square.
Wood columns and brick walls were sandblasted to expose the natural surface as finish material. The de-comissioned roaster, polished and lit, was placed on an altar. A large opening was made in the brick wall with a steel "donut" to create the adjacent store for ceramics. A variety of display options included blue italian glass & steel floating shelves at storefront window, glass shelves along an interior window wall, and wooden tables, one as large as a dining room table to mimic a dinner setting. Concrete floor with colored glass, and 5 grey hues on walls and cabinets was applied to allude to "greenware" rooms that ceramics are stored in before placed in the kiln.
